Søren Nørbo Trio

Søren Nørbo Trio is a unique, Danish jazz group based on pianist Søren Nørbos compositions. These compositions have their roots in the standard repertoire of the American jazz tradition but over time ever greater liberties have been taken; a distinct, Nordic tone has been incorporated, and the very personal form of interplay practiced by the group has influenced Søren Nørbo’s music.

The trio’s interplay evolved through a very intense and creative period of rehearsal. The group actually rehearsed for 2 years before even considering giving their first concert.

During this period of time the musicians developed a mutual trust and solidarity resulting in unique, musical freedom. During the concerts the music is allowed to travel in all directions, all three musicians putting forth all their efforts with maximum intensity. This, combined with the superior, artistic skills of the musicians, renders some very imaginative and surprising developments much appreciated by an audience. Swing in the traditional sense, surprising grooves and moods and improvisations in every thinkable direction, sometimes even departing from the sphere of music itself.

Søren Nørbo Trio wishes to convey a message of human values and solidarity in these cold times, and the concerts are conducted in a warm and often amusing atmosphere.
